GET TO KNOW OUR STORY
Our story began towards the end of Summer in 2008, when Randi and Larry shared a quick glance with each other while he was on the basketball court, and she was in the stands. The game had just begun, and she had a strong feeling that she knew him. She immediately texted her sister, Ryan and asked if they knew a “Larry Davis”. When her sister was unsure, she did what any millennial would do, she “Googled” him. After running across his Facebook page that specified, “Lives in New York”, she quickly knew that she had been mistaken. Larry played, Randi watched, and the game had ended. Little did she know that they would cross paths again.
Randi had attended Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, and upheld multiple leadership positions on campus. One of the LMU basketball coaches had met with her, because he wanted to encourage his players to become more involved. The coach introduced her to a few of his players, and she volunteered to accompany these players to their first “convocation hour”. It was the very first convocation hour of the year, which meant that every student on campus was available to meet both new and returning students. To best describe the magnitude of this event, it could be seen as the equivalent to the “first day of school”. As Randi walked the players down the lined palm trees towards “The Lair” aka LMU’s food marketplace, Larry was called over by his teammates and introduced to Randi. She recognized him from the basketball game she had seen just a month prior, and this was the day that they officially met. I know you’re probably wondering…Okay, “love at first sight” moment? But no, it most definitely was NOT! Randi was insulted that Larry would not get off of his phone to properly meet her, and Larry just stood there with a confident smile and phone in hand. After several quick encounters from this official introduction, one of which Larry claims Randi gave him “The googs” aka “Googly Eyes”, their interest in each other became apparent one evening after Larry gave her a ride home from a party, and they ended the night with a slow dance and their first kiss. Nine years and two children later, Larry and Randi continue writing their love story.
